Filey Beach & Seafront – Experience Filey From Above in 360°
Filey is a traditional seaside town on the Yorkshire coast with a beautiful sandy beach, spectacular coastal scenery and a much more relaxed atmosphere than some of Britain's larger seaside resorts.
We spent time in Filey during our Yorkshire coast visit and quickly discovered why so many people return here year after year.
For this Explore Britain with PJ experience, we're doing something a little different – taking you above Filey Beach in a fully immersive 360° drone video, allowing you to look around and explore the coastline for yourself.

Using our 360° drone, we take you above Filey Beach and give you the ability to look around while the flight takes place.

Filey Beach
Filey's magnificent beach is undoubtedly one of the town's biggest attractions.
The broad expanse of sand stretches for miles along the Yorkshire coastline and provides plenty of space for walking, relaxing, playing with the family or simply enjoying the sea air.
At lower tides the beach can feel enormous, making it ideal for a long walk beside the sea.
Compared with some of the larger resorts along this coastline, Filey has a noticeably quieter and more traditional seaside atmosphere, which is one of the things we particularly enjoyed about it.
Filey Seafront
Running alongside the beach is Filey's attractive seafront and promenade.
It's a lovely place for a leisurely walk, with views across Filey Bay and plenty of opportunities to simply sit for a while and watch the world go by.
There are cafés, places to grab something to eat and, naturally, plenty of opportunities for an ice cream!
For us, Filey is the sort of seaside town where you don't necessarily need a packed itinerary. Part of the enjoyment is simply walking along the promenade and beach and taking in the surroundings.
Filey Brigg
At the northern end of Filey Bay you'll see the distinctive Filey Brigg, a long rocky headland extending out into the North Sea.
It's one of Filey's most recognisable natural landmarks and provides a dramatic backdrop to views across the bay.
The Brigg and surrounding coastline are also popular with walkers, photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Exploring the Yorkshire Coast
Filey is also very well positioned for exploring this part of Yorkshire.
Scarborough lies farther up the coast, while Flamborough Head and its famous lighthouse can be found to the south.
During our visit to the area we explored all three, and each offers a completely different experience.
If you're staying in Filey for several days, it makes an excellent base for discovering more of the Yorkshire coastline.
Is Filey Worth Visiting?
Yes – we think it definitely is.
If you're looking for huge amusement complexes and non-stop entertainment, there are larger seaside resorts nearby.
But that's part of Filey's appeal.
It has a more relaxed feel and combines a lovely beach, traditional seaside atmosphere and beautiful Yorkshire coastal scenery.
It's somewhere we'd happily visit again – and there's still plenty more around Filey that we'd like to explore.
